Shila Gonsalves Eng 102 Prof: Streeter Essay #2 Parenting children with learning disabilities Parenting is not an easy task as may be assumed by those who are not parents yet. Right from conception, parents have enormous role to play in shaping the well-being of their children. For example, parents are the first teachers when children have not been enrolled into formal schooling system. The education, welfare and overall safety of these little children all lie within the hands of parents. The latter explains why rules and regulations have to be set up by parents in order to assist in the management of their children. Parents are also supposed to create their unique routines in addition to setting up their parenting goals and vision (Dyson, 2010). Identifying the Problem It is a painful and confusing responsibility to identify unique needs of a child. For most parents, it often takes significant amount of time to detect or discover certain disabilities among their children. In other words, some parents can hardly comprehend whether their children are growing normally. The worst cases are those involving parents who are raising the first child. Such parents can find it difficult to know specific stages when a child is supposed to begin vocalizing, rolling around with play items or pronounce the first words and phrases (Dyson, 2010). Worse still, a parent can find it almost difficult to differentiate between a hyperactive child suffering from ADHD and the one who is perfectly healthy and playing out in the field. Again, a child who is suffering from gross motor skills challenge can demonstrate also similar signs to one who is a bit clumsy. These are some of the reasons why parents can take significant time to learn whether their children are growing healthy (Sleeter, 2010). After diagnosis, the blunt reality that a child has learning disability often strikes many parents and so they decide to live in denial for long. The painful emotions may eventually transform into various stages of grief at the torment of the parent. A number of research studies have documented parents who tend to rationalize any form of learning disability observed in their children. Neurologic Basis A number of parents also feel worthless since they get an impression that the respective learning disabilities portrayed in their children are due to their own genetic defects. However, that can never be the case. Any sense of guilt by parents cannot change the situation facing children with learning problems. Academic failure is one of the most astounding outcomes of learning disabilities among children. Although there are other cluster of difficulties that such children apart from poor class-work performance, respective parents can still raise up such children with greater love, care and concern (Sleeter, 2010). In any case, neurophysiological base is the main origin of learning disabilities and so parents should be more understanding and accommodating while bringing up children with learning difficulties. Neurological research scientists unanimously agree that learning disabilities result from crumbled information that finds its way in the brain and eventually fails to be processed successfully. Consequently, a child diagnosed with such a condition is highly likely to face communication challenges, poor organization and general state of disorderliness. It is up to medical experts to reassure parents that outside factors are not responsible for such neurological mess but instead, organic factors. Some philosophers have been arguing for many decades that the phenomenon of learning disability does not exist. They claimed that some children are hardworking and motivated while others lack self esteem and are also lazy. Besides, they argue that some children are bright while others are academically dull. Nevertheless, the rapid advancement in technology over the past few years has addressed such misconceptions (Theule, Wiener, Tannock, & Jenkins, 2013). Acceptable parenting styles Individuals who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities tend to have different brain structures from those who do not have the same problem. Above all, it is important for parents to understand the overriding behavioral patterns for children exhibiting learning disabilities. Parents also get confused while raising children with learning challenges because a child who will never be able to perform in class can hardly be differentiated from the one who will improve at a later date and be able to give excellent performance. In most instances, parents are advised to reduce their degrees of expectations whether the concerned children are healthy or not (Sleeter, 2010). In addition, parents should be in a position to vividly visualize challenges being faced by their children instead of pondering what is wrong with them. In both plays the main characters are not seen in scene 1 of the plays however are mentioned and we gain knowledge of the characters through the voice of others. In Romeo and Juliet, Romeo is fist mentioned by his mother, Lady Montague when she says â€Å"O where is Romeo? Saw you him today? † also when lady Montague asks Benvolio where Romeo was he replied that he was up an hour before dawn, walking west of the city and trying to calm his troubled mind, when he saw Romeo in a grove of sycamore. Benvolio walked towards his friend, but Romeo spotted him and went further into the woods, out of sight. This shows that he is trying to isolate himself away from everyone. Benvolio knew how Romeo felt so wanted to leave him alone, however lord Montague doesnt agree that Romeo should be left alone. He tells Benvolio that Romeo is often out in the sycamore grove: Many a morning hath he there been seen, with tears augmenting the fresh morning dew, adding to clouds more clouds with his deep sighs†. Not only does Romeo wander about, weeping and sighing, he also locks himself in his room and makes it dark. In Macbeth, Macbeth is first mentioned by the witches, which is not a good sign because in Shakespeare’s day if you are connected to witches in any way its bad. In scene 2, the captain describes Macbeth as â€Å"brave† and that his sword is â€Å"smoked† with blood. This suggests that Macbeth is a violent and cruel killer. In both plays we can identify that conflict are very close to both Romeo and Macbeth although Macbeth has a greater involvement in it because Romeo isn’t interested in his family feud. As his father is worriedly talking about him, Romeo appears. Benvolio asks Romeos parents to step aside so that he can find out whats wrong with Romeo. Benvolio promises that if he doesnt discover what Romeos problem is, it wont be for lack of trying, he says, Ill know his grievance, or be much denied . Benvolio is now seeking out Romeo to find out what’s wrong with him . Though he hasnt been saying anything to his parents, Romeo is open with his friend. Benvolio asks questions to Romeo to help the audience find out what’s wrong with him, and Romeo tells him that he is Out of her favour, where I am in love Then follows a long discussion of love, during which we find that Romeo is in love. The fact that Romeo confides with Benvolio shows their true relationship . For a moment, it appears that Romeo is tired of talking about love. He asks Benvolio where they are going to have lunch, and then says, O me! What fray was here? But neither food nor fighting can really turn Romeos thoughts away from love. Rather than let Benvolio say anything about the brawl, Romeo says, Yet tell me not, for I have heard it all. Heres much to do with hate, but more with love . In saying, I have heard it all, Romeo does not mean that he has heard all about the fight that just took place. He means that he has heard all about fighting in general. And he doesnt care. Romeos language to benvolio shows his state of mind, he using oxymorons, â€Å"feather of lead, bright smoke, cold fire, sick health† this suggests that he has a troubled mind, he is confused and he has a lack of direction doesn’t know what to do this is where benvolio helps him.

The Worldwide Popularity of Latin Music The most played and listened to music right now almost everywhere in the world is Latin music. It is especially characterized by its rhythm and its exotic instruments. (Revels-Bey) Nowadays, this kind of music is grabbing people’s attention especially in the marketing area because we can see that people are starting to use it in commercials, TV shows, movies, etc. Most people are ignorant of the origins of Latin Music. They just enjoy it but they never wonder how this pleasant music got its mixed sounds and styles together. Latin music has its root in the Moorish culture. This culture emerged when Christopher Columbus came to conquer the new world and he brought with him Moorish slaves into Latin America. The Moorish culture spread its rhythm and sounds among other countries. Its rhythm distinguished its music between other cultures. Moorish descendants used drums and songs in a way to communicate each other. After years, this music spread through all the islands of the Carribean making it their unique musical culture. Each Latin American country adopted some sounds from the Moorish to made their own style. (Revels-Bey) Latin music is a mix of different sounds, beats, and rhythms obtained from Spain and Latin America. The styles of Latin music are: el mambo, la rumba, la zarzuela, flamenco, el tango ,el merengue, la cumbia and salsa El mambo and the rumba are kind of similar in sounds but experts can distinguish them by their beats. They say that the mambo’s musical has unexpected beats and that the rumba starts with a group of improvised verses. La zarzuela and the flamenco are both folkloric music from Spain, but they differ in two points. La zarzuela is from Spanish opera and the flamenco has an influence of arabic and gypsy melodies. El tango is the music from Argentina and it’s characterized by its slow and soft rhythm. El merengue has a fast beat and a tropical rhythm and it started in the Dominican republic. The cumbia has a moderate to rapid melodious verses and choruses. Musicians play it with accordions and drums. Finally, la salsa became popular in Miami and New York and ità ¢â‚¬â„¢s characterized by the use of trumpets and other brass instruments. Analysis of Southern Gothic Literature Essay

Southern Gothic literature, which is a sub-genre of the Gothic writing style, is unique to the American South. Southern Gothic literature has many of the same aspects as Gothic literature; it focuses on topics such as death, madness, and the super natural as well has having many mystical, bizarre, violent, and grotesque aspects. These tools are used â€Å"to explore social issues and reveal the cultural character of the American South (Wikipedia). † The authors of Southern Gothic writing use damaged characters to enhance their stories, and to show deeper highlights of unpleasant southern characteristics. These characters are usually set apart from their societies due to their mental, physical, and or social disabilities. However not all the aspects of the characters are bad â€Å"it is more often the case that a mixture of good and bad is found in most of the characters (McFLY)† The authors of these stories do give the main character some good qualities; this is so the reader will fill sympathy and understanding for the character. Two authors who exhibit the Southern Gothic writing style are William Faulkner, who wrote â€Å"A Rose for Emily†, and Flannery O’Conner, the author of â€Å"Good Country People† and â€Å"A Good Man is Hard to Find†. William Faulkner’s â€Å"A Rose for Emily† is an example of Southern Gothic literature. It contains many aspects of Southern Gothic writing, such as an old dark mansion, death, mystery, bizarre events, and the crazy Miss. Emily. The story takes place in a small town in Jefferson Mississippi. The narrator tells us the story of Miss. Emily Grierson, from the town’s point of view. â€Å"? A Rose for Emily’ is the remarkable story of Emily Grierson, an aging spinster in Jefferson, whose death and funeral drew the attention of the entire town (Faulkner n. p. ). † The first sign that this story is going to be Southern Gothic is when Faulkner describes her funeral. According to the narrator, when Miss. Emily died, everyone attended her funeral; â€Å"the men through a sort of respectful affection for a fallen monument, the women mostly out of curiosity to see the inside of her house (Perrine’s 281). † The narrator then goes on to tell the story of Miss. Emily. Miss. Emily lived in a once beautiful, white, seventies style home, but as the years went by her home became â€Å"an eyesore among eyesores (Perrine’s 281). â€Å"This may be a reflection of how the town saw Miss. Emily herself, once beautiful and now an eyesore to the entire community. After Miss. Emily’s father had died, Colonel Sartoris told her that she would not have to pay taxes on her house, due to the fact that her â€Å"father had loaned money to the town, which the town, [. . . ], preferred this way of repaying (Perrine’s 282). † So for many years, Miss. Emily went on with out paying taxes. When the next generation came into office, a tax notification was sent to Miss. Emily, who sent it back to them with no other comments. The â€Å"Board of Aldermen† was sent to her house; they â€Å"knocked at the door through which no visitor had passed (Perrine’s 282)† through for eight to ten years. When they were let in, by â€Å"the old Negro†, they house smelled of dust and disuse (Perrine’s 282). † When Miss. Emily entered the dimly light living room â€Å"she looked bloated, like a body long submerged in motionless water (Perrine’s 282-283). † The spokesman asked why Miss. Emily had not paid her taxes, to which she replied â€Å"I have no taxes in Jefferson. [? ] See Colonel Sartoris (Perrine’s 283). † What Miss. Emily did not know was that Colonel Sartoris had been dead for almost ten years now. On one occasion, a neighborhood woman went to the mayor to complain of a smell coming from Miss. Emily’s house. The mayor thought nothing of it until two more complaints were received the next day. Finally the Board of Aldermen sent four men out to her house the next night, after midnight, and sprinkled lime all around Miss. Emily’s house and outbuildings; â€Å"After a week or two the smell went away (Perrine’s 284). † After that incident, the people began to feel sorry for her. They believed that â€Å"the Griersons held themselves a little too high for what they really were (Perrine’s 284). † No man was good enough for her by her father and by the time she was thirty she was still unwed. After her father died, the people finally had a reason to fell bad for her. She was alone in the world with only her house left; this left her humanized. The day after her father’s death, the women of the town went to give their condolences to Miss. Emily. To their surprise, Miss. Emily was â€Å"dressed as usual† and had â€Å"no trace of grief on her face (Perrine’s 285). † Emily told the women that her father was not dead. Finally after three days of trying to hold on to her father, â€Å"she broke down, and they buried her father quickly (Perrine’s 285). † The town’s people tired to justify Miss. Emily’s actions, by saying that she had nothing left, and was clinging to the one thing that had robbed her for so long they convinced themselves that she was not crazy. The summer after her father died, the town hired contractors to pave the sidewalks. The foreman, Homer Barron, and Miss. Emily became quite fond of one another. On Sunday afternoons they could bee seen driving in his buggy together. Soon the people began to whisper about Emily and Homer. Emily held her head high; she would not be seen as anything other than respectful. The town’s people believed that Miss. Emily should have kinfolk come to stay with her for a while. While Emily’s two cousins were visiting her, she went and bought rat poison. When she got to the drug store, she would not tell the druggist why she wanted arsenic, but when she got home, under the skull and bones on the box the druggist had written â€Å"For rats. † Everyone believed that she was going to kill herself. But then, Miss. Emily was seen in buying a silver toilet set for men, with H. B. on each piece, and then she bought a complete men’s outfit. Everyone said â€Å"They are married,† referring to Miss. Emily and Homer Barron. When the streets were done, Homer left. Three days after Emily’s cousins had left, Homer was back in town; he was seen going in to Miss. Emily’s house through the Kitchen door at dusk. No one say Homer or Emily for some time. When she was next seen, she had grown fat, and her hair was turning gray. Year after year, the people watched as the Negro man grew older and older. The only sign of Miss Emily was when she was seen through one of her downstairs windows. Then one day Miss. Emily died. The women and men came to pay respects, and to see what Miss. Emily had kept hidden for so many years. After she was buried, the town’s people went back to Emily’s house to look at the room which had not been used in over forty years. What they found would explain many things that had happened over the years. After the door was forced open, and the dust settled, they looked about the room. On the dresser an outfit and tie were laid out, along with a pair of shoes. In the bed, they found Mr. Homer Barron. Finally, someone noticed that on the pillow next to Mr. Barron’s, someone had been sleeping on it. A head indention was in the pillow, along with a single strand of Miss. Emily’s gray hair. Miss. Emily â€Å"killed Homer largely to placate society, although that, in her deranged mind, also secured him as her lover forever (Dilworth n. p. ). † Flannery O’Conner is another author who writes in the Southern Gothic style. His story â€Å"Good Country People† takes place in south. He uses attributes such as lies, faithless ness, and deception to make his story Southern Gothic. The main character, Hulga, finds many things to be wrong with the world she lives in; she also finds many things wrong with mother. Hulga is a large girl with a crippled leg. She does not believe in God, and she uses her studies as an excuse to escape the world. Mrs. Hopewell tries to convince herself that Joy, who changed her name to Hulga, is still a child, even thought Hulga is thirty- two years old. â€Å"Nothing is perfect† and â€Å"that is life! † where two of Mrs. Hopewell’s favorite sayings (Good Country People n. p. ). Mrs. Hopewell and Mrs. Freeman, the landlord, talked about many things together. One thing that they both agreed on was â€Å"there aren’t enough good county people (O’Connor n. p. ). † While Mrs. Hopewell was making dinner one night, a young man, by the name of Pointer, came to the Hopewell’s house to sell bibles. Hulga, who was atheist, was not to fond of the young man, but once Mrs. Hopewell found out that he was from â€Å"good country people† she couldn’t get enough of him. She even invited him in for dinner. During dinner Pointer talked to Hulga about his family and where he was from and why he sold Bibles. After dinner, Hulga walked the young man out. The next day, Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Hopewell were talking about the Bible salesman. Mrs. Freeman said she had seen Hulga talking to him at the fence, and wandered what she had said to the boy. Hulga over heard all this, and tried to make a scene by getting up and stumping â€Å"with about twice the noise that was necessary, into her room (O’Connor n. p. ). † When Hulga got to her room, she went over the conversation that she had with Pointer the day before. Hulga and Pointer had made plans to go on a picnic the next day. Hulga tried to act as if she did not really want to go, but she had other plans of her own. While she was in bed that night, she went over all the different ways that she could seduce Pointer. Hulga â€Å"imagined that the two of them walked [? ] until they came to the storage barn [? ]† and â€Å"that she very easily seduced him (O’Connor n. p. ). † When she got up the next morning to met Pointer at the gate, he wasn’t there, she thought she had been stood up, and then she saw him he had been behind a bush. He was there in the same dirty old clothes as yesterday, only this time he had on a hat. Hulga asked, â€Å"Why did you bring your Bibles? † They just keep on walking though, until they got to the barn. Once inside the barn, they climbed up into the hay loft. Once they were both in the loft, Pointer started kissing Hulga; â€Å"When here glasses got in the way, he took them off of her and slipped them into his pocket (O’Connor n. p. ). † Once Hulga returned his kisses he told her that he loved her, to this Hulga had no reply for many minutes. After she said she did love him, he wanted her to prove it, he told Hulga to â€Å"show me where your wooden leg joins in (O’Connor n. p. ). † Hulga couldn’t do this, not at first anyways. Finally after she had taken off her wooden leg, but when she wanted it back on, Pointer refused to give it back, instead he placed it in his Bible suitcase. Hulga cried and pleaded for her leg to be returned, but all Pointer could say was â€Å"you needn’t to think you’ll catch me because Pointer ain’t really my name (O’Connor n. p. )† Flannery O’Connor also wrote â€Å"A Good Man is Hard to Find. † The story takes place in Georgia. In this story a grandmother and her family were deciding on where to go for the family vacation. The grandmother did not want to go to Florida, which is where the rest of the family wanted to go, she wanted to go to Tennessee. To try to convince the family not to go to Florida, she told them that she told them that she had just read on article about a prisoner, The Misfit, who had escaped form the Federal Penitentiary. She also tries to convince the family to go to Tennessee by saying that the children â€Å"never have been to east Tennessee (O’Connor 495). † The family would not listen to her, and decided to go to Florida anyways. On the way down to Florida, the family stopped at a little diner to get lunch. While they were there the owner and his wife were talking about the Misfit as well. After leaving the dinner the grandmother remembered a house that she had once been to; it was an old Southern Plantation. She nags and nags her son to just stop in and see the house; she even implies that it would be good for the children by saying that â€Å"it would be very educational for them. † Finally after her grandchildren pleaded their father to stop, her son finally decided to take a short drive down the driveway of the house. Once they had turned down the long dirt road, which went to the plantation, the grandmother suddenly remembered that the house she had been thinking of was not even in Georgia, but in Tennessee. Rather than telling her son that she had made a mistake, she just sat back and keeps it to herself. As they were driving down the driveway, the grandmother’s cat sprang form its resting spot and landed on her son’s shoulder. The car went out of control, â€Å"the children where thrown to the floor and their mother [? ] was thrown out of the car; the old lady was thrown into the front seat (O’Connor 502). † The children were ecstatic about being in a wreck. While the parents and grandmother while trying to recuperate form what had just happened, a truck pulled up. The grandmother had a feeling that she knew the man who stepped out of the truck. The man said he had seen the accident happen, and told one of the boys in the truck with him to go check and see if the car would still run. That’s  when the grandmother knew who the man was; it was The Misfit. â€Å"You’re the Misfit† exclaimed the grandmother. â€Å"Yes’m [? ] but it it would have been better for all of you, lady, if you hadn’t of reckernized me (O’Connor 503). † The Misfit had no other choose, he told Bobby Lee to take the father and the boy and go back into the woods. The whole time, the grandmother was trying to talk The Misfit out of hurting her. She told the Misfit, â€Å"I just know you’re a good man (505). † To this he replies, â€Å"Nome, I ain’t a good man (505). † Then the sound of gunfire was heard coming form where Bobby Lee had taken her son and grandchild. Next the Misfit had the mother and the other two children taken back into the woods. The grandmother still tried to talk her way out of being hurt, but failed to ask that her family be saved as well. Three more rounds of shots could be heard from the woods, the grandmother only talked faster to try to save her own life. She told him that Jesus would forgive him of his sins if only he would ask for it. Finally when the grandmother looked at The Misfit she said â€Å"Why you’re one of my babies. You’re one of my own children! † to this The Misfit sprang back and shot the old land three times in the chest. All of the stories that are discussed in this paper have many signs of being Southern Gothic literature. They show sings of characters that are extremely flawed, stingy, and uncaring. The stories are mysterious, bizarre, and ironic in the end. Southern Gothic authors use these types of traits in their stories to catch the reader’s attention, and to show aspects of the south that are not perfect. Enhancing Education for International Students Essay

The impediments in facilitating learning in the realm of international students have been an issue among teachers and educational institutions. Through this dilemma, different studies in such literature have been proliferated to create avenues for changes and developments in such area. In the end, by properly incorporating these changes, appropriate measures and practices can be made so as to make education and learning worthwhile for international students. The paper seeks to showcase several important studies and articles that seek to address the challenges posed by facilitating education among international students. By doing this, better enforcement of education by institutions and teachers can be possible. Such compilation can be an important catalyst in addressing the needed changes by the academic institutions. Though this may seem an elaboration of important developments in the realm of education, this may sound to be general in nature compared to the variety and complex problems experienced by students. That is why the paper seeks to further limit the scope into reading and writing solutions adequate for international students. Addressing the overall problem Determining the dilemmas and hurdles faced by international students, one must be keen to understand that the difference in practices & culture and the language barrier remains to be the main catalyst for such experience. Lee in her article critically outlines the impediments and barrier of learning and development of international students. Seeing this, the article reflected important factors that led to such problems. â€Å"They recognized the need to adjust to the American-type classrooms, which includes, among other things, more interaction between professors and students, smaller classes, more explicit writing style, idiomatic language in spoken and written English, and a less formal classrooms. † (Lee, 1997, p. 94) Seeing this, Lee proposes several important solutions that administrators and teachers can implement in a classroom inhabited by international students. These actions are primarily focused on the process on which education is facilitated – oral, written and language skills. One important component in addressing the problem is by enhancing the listening capability of students. An important component in these suggestive methods is by both making the instructor and international student adapt at the same time in the classroom. â€Å"The tendency of American professors to modify textbooks and use outside sources to develop a unique class design creates obstacles for students who have listening difficulties. † (Lee, 1997, p. 94) Another important component indicated by Lee is the realization that there are cultural differences among students in the classroom. Local students may find and understand the topics if it talks about American culture, however this may not be the case for international students. â€Å"Students who are unfamiliar with examples may not understand the concept and so have additional information to decipher. † (Lee, 1997, p. 95) Instructors and teachers must prevent the occurrence of culture shock. By doing these, international students may feel at ease and can create further improvement in the acquisition of information and knowledge Internationalising Education Though a curriculum an educational institution may seem to provide, there must be an effort to continue to adjust it according to international standards. The study of Arkoudis showcases several important ways international students’ education in the classroom can be facilitated. One important facet is the creation of standardized teaching and learning. By doing this, an institution can both help facilitate education and learning not only for international students but also to locals as well. â€Å"There are also benefits for domestic students, as they engage with culturally and linguistically diverse students who offer multi-cultural perspectives on local and global issues. † (Arkoudis, 2006, p. 8) Another important point given by Arkoudis is the realization that a standardized curriculum must be developed so as to look into the welfare of international students. By focusing on how the content of a particular institution is given, proper facilitation of each discipline is achieved. â€Å"For some disciplines it seems that academics already consider the content as international, usually because the discipline is practiced in the same way across different countries. † (Arkoudis, 2006, p. 7) Also, there is another important component in the facilitation of education. This involves the creation of access to lectures particularly among students so as to give them the opportunity to further review materials in the classroom. By facilitating this, international students can cope with the challenges inside the classroom. â€Å"There are strategies that can be used in the design and delivery of the lecture that can assist in making the conventional lecture more accessible for international students† (Arkoudis, 2006, p. 9) Group participation has also been an important facet of American education for it gives opportunities for students to actively take part in the lesson given in a group setting. Arkoudis however argues that this may pose a hindrance for learning particularly among international students. These are due to several language barriers and their relative hesitation either caused by difficulty adjusting or shyness. â€Å"Contributing to discussions can be seen as a risky undertaking if the students are not comfortable with their English language ability or are unfamiliar with the cultural conventions for ‘breaking into’ the conversation. † (Arkoudis, 2006, p. 11) Seeing this, the teacher must actively create important measures and schemes that will improve the capability of international students to interact during group discussions.

The invention of the Airplane essays Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the Airplane on Thursday, December 17, 1903. These two brothers change history forever. Because of there great deal of passion and motivation we could travel at a faster speed all over the world. Of course that many inventions have there advantages and disadvantages. The airplane had and still has many ups and downs but we could try to over come these things and just try to see the positive side of this great invention. The Wrights Brothers had a good childhood. There parents tended to travel a lot so they got to know different places around the United States. As a young teenager Wilbur got hit with a bat across his face while he was ice skating. at the moment it didnt seem as if he was really hurt but later on he began to be affected with nervous palpitations of the heart which excluded the recognition of the idea of his parents, of giving him a course in Yale College. For the next four years, Wilbur stayed at home, suffering from a depression as from his heart disorder. During this time, Wilbur cared for his mother Susan, who was dying from tuberculosis. During the year 1900,1901,1902,1903 Wilbur and Orville decided to start working on a project together. They decided to put there hands into building the worlds first Airplane ever. At the time, it seemed a great deal of skill would be necessary to fly, so they found a great deal of practice would be necessary. Wilbur initially proposed to build a 150 foot tower with a pulley at the top. A rope, attached to the glider, would pass over the pulley and be tied to a counterweight, supporting part of the weight of the craft. Wilbur believed this arrangement would permit the pilot to practice the skills needed to fly even if the craft was not yet fully airworthy. An Unforgettable Experience.

His sparkling green eyes always gave an aura of intelligence. Every time he smiled it made my heart melt like a hot knife cutting through butter. The only one who knew about this feeling of mine was my best friend, Ida. She was a very encouraging friend of me. She even helped me hooked up with Dustin. I was the girl who only focused on my studies and my social life was not exciting. Dustin, on the other hand, was one of the top guys in the girls’ list who was a must-go-date with. His popularity started when he scored a lot of baskets for his basketball team. But most importantly, he was the Captain of the Tiger basketball team. One day, the Tiger Team had a big game with Leopard Team. He played brilliantly with great jump, shots, dunks and assists. His teammates also played their hearts out to win the game. Just two minutes before the game ended, they were trailing 90-96. They managed to force three turnovers, two steals and scored five baskets. Three shots were made by Dustin. Finally, our Tiger Team won by 101-99. Ida and I were very excited and we screamed our lungs out for the victory. Dustin then took the microphone from the announcer. He said in front of hundreds of people that before he left high school, he wanted to tell everyone a secret. He liked someone, a girl. Nobody knew and not even his own friend. Suddenly, the stadium became quiet as all the girls wished that they were the chosen one. Then he said, â€Å"Amanda Ann, I do really like you,† â€Å"What? Did he just mention my name? I asked Ida. I was shocked and felt like fainting at that moment. I could not believe it. It was just like a dream came true. I suddenly dreamed that I was wearing a Cinderella gown and hearing the ringing of bells. Then, everybody in the stadium was staring at me. He then ran towards me and told me that he liked me a lot since the first day I sat foot in this school. I became dumbfounded and my face turned red as all girls w ere very envious of me.
